02 fe 400 carb upgrade

Got a mate that has an 02 FE 400, he wants to do an upgrade to his carb, seems he's thinking Kehin. Is this any easy thing to sort...?, has anyone done it that can offer advice or experiences. He's tried the jetting and it's improved but he's still not happy with it.

Figures the kehin could / should be a solid upgrade. Anyways, I'm keen for your wisdom. Also, I'm heading out of OZ to Seattle next Saturday for my Mum's birthday and sisters wedding, I wanted to check out some berg dealers, can anyone give me names of the better shops to visit..

yes the keihin is a slightly better carb.

would suggest that if the carb was like new inside and that the rest of the engine was good then he would be happy.

suggest that he looks at a smaller choke jet, new atomiser and needle, get the ignition timing done with a fresh line ala the doc. as a last resort - and it is for your mate - i would drillout the left brass tube in the front face of the carb (i think it's the left) from 1mm to 1.5mm.

nothing to lose methinks.
