Hi All,
I'm brand new to the page and recently "scored" an 02 FC470. Took it for a rip today and it died after about 20 minutes of trail riding. It was like the gas was instantly shut off. I started pushing it back to the truck as I was about 10 or so miles in luckily its all down hill on the way back. After about 20 or so of pushing on an uphill section of trail I was able to jump on and coast downhill. I bump started as I was coasting and it fired right up. As I was headed back after about 5-10 minutes it did the same thing it just died. Almost made it back but ended up pushing it the rest of the way to the truck. Once there and cooled down it kicked right over and fired up. Any body out there have an idea on my issue? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

try looking at the tank ventilation.

Run it with the cap off or loose. sounds like your fuel stops flowing.

you could also have a really clogged fuel filter on the carb.....

tappet clearances are too tight and the 470 is thee worst. As you Yanks would say in order to wreck the beautiful language we left you after Yorktown "its the winningest losers bike". I hope you have a wheelbarrow full of money.

Your ignition could be going or the tappets are too tight. Usually, the ignition packs up in one go but sometimes it just stalls at low revs and makes you think you're on choke.

get the tappets done, then ride within site of the truck. recommend an easystart kit for those as the 470 has the worst jetting of all the roundslide dell ortos.

we have two more 470s on here at present, new members to us. SAME AS YOU, got them cheap, won't spend coin on them, ask a load of questions, and phuq off after a fortnight.

now there's a challenge to you!

Thanks for the advice and the let down. I'll give it a try and maybe after that the FA-Q will only be 1/2 a fortnight. Ill let the next poor bastard think they're getting a great deal. As for the wheelbarrow full of money that was already spent on my son's "Classic" Chevy.

Tell the Queen I said Hiya
