i have an old 02 470 with taffy's FCR jetting pretty much.....and ive got a notion to take it out into the desert around Moab. what do you think my range would be plodding along in 4th gear or so on fire road type terrain? also any ideas where i could source a big tank or an auxiliary tank?

3 hours I think.

keep a litre in a backpack.

there's only the auxilliary tank under the seat that holds 2 litres and boy oh boy they can be fun to set up - if you can find one! personally, i think 3 hours is long enough, especially with 'mates', yes 'mates' make everything better!!!!

there is a clark tank out there that replaces the rad shrouds with more fuel....forget what it holds.

the important thing is to have the gearing IN THAT GEAR right, ignition timing and jetting. because any weakness is being compounded every yard of the way....

regards

taffy

thanks Taffy. that would be about 80 miles or so. thats what i was thinking. the key is to just cruise and not gas it too much too. anyway i have to figure a out a good way to carry some extra fuel

Their are some jerry cans made of steel and don't leak (European also you don't need spout) that hold a little more than 5L / 1.6 gal there a little bigger then a 1 gallon can easy to carry. I have carried 2 that's 3.2 gallons in saddle bags. As a safety thing when empty I leave the can open. Reason an almost empty closed can. Can be a bomb!! All things being wrong/right???
