I really enjoy riding my 01 fe650. I tend to use it on tougher dual sport rides and in single track when I am riding with my family. I've read pretty much everything I can find on the 01 chassis and it seems that a set of triple clamps with a different offset are probably the best mod for this bike in the woods. I guess my question is what offset triples should I be looking for? Is 18 enough or should I go as low as 14. I still want to d/s the bike but would really like to be able to ride it harder in the single track. I'm 170 lbs, I've switched from 46 to 42 springs on the front. I've got the sag set.The front deflects of rocks a little more than I like but I really want to get this bike to turn as best I can. Winter is on its way and that means time in the basement with the bike. I might even try a go at the fork valving but for now I need some opinions on triple clamp offset.

Thanks in advance

18-20mm will do you. can't say which as it is a preference. the KTM 20s are so cheap because nearly 90% of them are 20s. so why not start with them? you'll need to get the spacer washer that you can see in the parts book under the bottom bearing.

Thanks... There is a set local, I just wasn't sure if the 18 was enough. Time to start getting parts together.
