Hello all,
I bought an 01 FS650 last year, very low hours, still on the original tires (there were still nipples on them, that low hours). I've had trouble starting it since I got it, but last year I was able to get it running and ride it enough to know I really like riding again, not enough to get to love the SM thing.
Late last year after having a bear of a time getting it started the CB bearing let go on a nice ride. Frustration. Over the winter I had the motor completely rebuilt, spending a ton but happy that I'd have a solid bike. While the motor was out I deleted the e-start and battery, thinking the newly built motor would be easy to kick to life. Trouble is, it was no easier to start. Taffy was good enough to set me up with a custom jet kit and instructions which I've installed, but still no luck. Today, after verifying fuel (wet plug), spark (saw it with my own eyes), and adjusting the ignition timing for a little more retard, I snapped off the kick start shaft. Yes, I suppose I was kicking it hard enough.
So, half of me says truck it to a good shop, have them fix the kick start and figure out my starting problem. The other half, the half that has to pay bills, says it's time to move it on. I just can't make myself put any more money into it.
For sale, then, a 2001 FS650 with still very low miles/hours. No e-start, added a Trailtech Vapor and some nifty bar end mirrors. Cosmetically good, motor just rebuilt (receipts and old parts to prove it), lots of hard rubber left on the tires and needs nothing. Well, except a kick start shaft and someone with the motivation to get it starting reliably. I'd like to cover the cost of my rebuild and would entertain offers of trades for sport bikes, street legal trail bikes, oddballs (that start and run), hell, something to ride. You can contact me directly at [email protected]. I'll be happy to take some photos, meet you in some dark alley, whatever.
Thanks,
Dennis
