01 FE501 exhaust, is it same as the 2003 models.

im not one of the experts here but from what ive read on here before and looking for an exhaust myself for my 98 i believe 00-06 is all the same if im wrong im sure one of the guys here will let me know but i think your pretty safe in that buy

I remember way back Dan from Motoxotica stated that the 03 silencer would not bolt up to a 01-02. An entire system may fit with some tweaking. The head pipes were changed from the 04-05 models to solve the front tire rubbing against them issue. Head pipe diameter is larger on the 550-650 I believe.

No. 01 is not direct fit to 03 or above. Mainly because mounting tabs on frame changed between 02 and 03 . Can be done however mount tabs or brackets need to be fabricated. I do have some spare exh. parts for 01/02 or 03-up set up.

Thanks for all your help guys, based on your replies, I will leave the current system alone. Come to think of it, I got heaps of power as it is (I think I'm just a chronic fettler).
