i went for what turned out to be a very short ride today on my 01 470
i noticed a graiting sound coming from the engine i stopped it right away when i got home after getting a lift in a van from a friend of mine i stripped the engine down right away.. the main bearings have gone one of the balls from the main bearing on left side of the crank has popped out luckily it has stayed in the bottom of the crankcase and did not go up into the barrell what i wanted to ask is what are the generally accepted parts to replace while the engine is down ..i already intend to replace the mains ofcoures also the conrod and oil seals and check gearbox bearings i only put in a new timing chain and valves about 3 hours ago .. do i need to replace the counter balance bearing ? i have looked at it throughly and it seems okay it is the single race type.. and is it okay to reuse the splitlink on the timing chain ? like i said it is nearly new any help appreciated ..
