'00 to '08 yellow frame color

I had another Husaberg follow me home the other day. Near as I can tell, it's a 2001 400cc FE that was converted to a supermoto. I believe that someone here had it before me as I recall a post somewhere detailing the damage this bike has to the cylinder head. Apparently a cam bolt came loose and the head was severely gouged.

It seems that a previous owner liked the black frames of the '06 to '08 bikes and decided to follow suit. There are areas where the original blue is showing through so I'm toying with the idea of stripping it down to the bare frame and having it powder coated. The big question is what color. Anyone have the frame of their '00 to '08 painted yellow? How'd it look when finished? Pics would be awesome.

probably best having it done to the same yellow as the earlier Husabergs. Husaberg just used what are called 'RAL' colours. basically a standard-anyone-can-use-it colour. So look for a RAL chart on Google and go from there.

Thanks Taffy! That's a good suggestion. Incidentally, once the Christmas bonus comes in, I've got a long list of parts this bike needs so I'll be filling a cart in your web shop.

If the VIN# is any indication, this appears to be the 27th bike built for the 2002 model year and it has the 28th engine. It'll be the first Berg 400 I've ridden and my intention is to keep it for more technical riding. I'm excited to compare it to an '06 KTM 400 EXC that my Dad used to ride and which is still "in the family".

Once complete, I'll have a 400, a 501, a 600, and the big bore 660 in my stable. Hoping to spend a weekend running a local 14 mile loop of tight single track to see which I'm fastest on under those conditions. Obviously the supermoto wheels will be swapped in favor of a 19/21 setup I've got sitting around as spares.

it'll be tough on the Huasaberg but it'll still give a nice ride. probably the KTM engine and the Husaberg handling.....

So many threads just end without closure. An honest mistake, I'm sure, as I just encountered my own thread with a google search. In any case, I did end up getting the frame of this bike powder coated. I think that it looks awesome! The shop that did the work had a stack of samples and the one I chose might have had a RAL code...or it might not. I can't remember. I was afraid that the color would be too bright but it ended up just right in my opinion.

Engine in, rear suspension on. You can see that the color is a bit lighter and brighter than the yellow on the shock spring. I believe that shock/spring is from an '08 so the color should be factory.

After with blue 2000 tank:

I have since installed a yellow '08 tank with black shrouds and factory '08 graphics on it to make room for a radiator fan. I don't think that it looks as good now but the functionality will be improved with the fan. I'll work on getting a set of graphics that tie it all together and add pics at that time.

looks good, just want those seat and shroud decals to blend!

two shades of blue....
