Anybody can shed some light on these. Been reading all I can on here, and I'm still a little gun shy.

I'm looking at a '00 501FC. Not mint, but not total trash either. Looks like a well used bike that has been given proper care. I think. I hope. Just wondering how reliable I can expect a 8 year old high strung dirt bike to be. I know it's all a crap shoot, but some specific model advice and opinions would be nice since I know some 'bergs are better than others.

What about parts? I plan to ride fairly often so parts availability is important. I'm in US.

Thanks guys.

Some consider 2000 to be one of the best. The old style motor(very reliable by Husaberg standards) and the first year for the new style frame.
If the price is right and your not afraid of taking on a potential project, that would be the bike.
Parts at this time should not be a problem.

i would say that the chances of it NOT needing at least a tickle are slim. whether it needs anymore than that is your $1m question.

if i started again today i would get an FC501 motor from 2000, put a lineaweaver LX1 cam in it, port it, 30mm exhausts, zorst system, keihin FCR42, ixu24 plug, iWIS camchain, modern decomp and tensioner???, stick it in a 2003+ chassis with '08 suspension/settings, sparks stator, dual valve springs and you would have the mother of all husabergs.

good luck, hope you get it and welcome to the fold.

please put location and bike in your footnote.

regards

i think if i were to fit the rekluse and the LHRB i would dribble as well!

the only thing i didn't do to this standard engine was the valves so they could go straight to oversize, the cam from a katoom would fit straight in me reckons.

getting all personal: i have the original chassis just sat here with it's lowered rear end (remember that?) and i could slip the 400 engine back in that and get it all legal again for sale while the 501 slipped in my 2004 frame and had the egor treatment!

ooooouuuuhhhhh i can feel it as well!
