So.. long time follower and reader.

Engine Nr: 1054383 / 220067 1999-2003
Bike: YU7FC5K94Y0000165

I am changing piston on a 00 mod Husaberg 501.
Timing chain was new when I bought it, so was planning on reuse it for season.
This is the engine type where you don't have to split the engine to change the piston.

BTW: do anyone have the spesific maintainance manual for 501? Only found older and newer versions.

When I asssembled it, the chain was a couple of mm to short. No chance of getting it in the correct chain position. boggled my mind a bit, as it fitted before I changed the piston.
Mabe the gaskets made the distance longer? I don't know. But need some constructive inputs, easyest to just install new and longer chain?

there is no base gasket in 2000. you just use a smear of silicon.

I have 1999 workshop manuals....any good?

Holy moly I have been searching for info for a few days now on my 1998 husaberg 400fe. I am having the same exact problem with my cam chain being a link to short. I am not able to get the masterlink on. Does the 98 400 require the lower gasket between The jug and lower part of top end which I believe would be the head gasket. Also should I have the top gasket between the valve body and the jug?? I thought I remember having a gasket in each position when I first took it apart but it's been awhile waiting on parts from Germany. Please help and thank you.

no gasket between the crankcases and the barrel starting in 1997.
always a silicon bead when fixing the rocker cover to the cylinder head. never a gasket.

I hope my language isn't to alien to you. One day I'm sure you'll learn it. 😂

Lol so did I. What sealant did you end up going with. I got some permatek ultra red. Hope it works lol. Always put a gasket there so this is new for me.
