4 pot or 6?

Have a 07 550 S-moto that I'm in the process of re-building this winter.

For the brakes, the bike has the Braking wave rotor and the FTE 4 pot. Brakes did seem pretty good... But is the beringer six pot a whole lot better?

Also, is it a simple upgrade, or is it more complicated than it needs to be?

Thanks

I may be corrected on this, but on a previous bike when I upgraded to six pots the master cylinder had to be changed too. the standard one would not pump enough fluid for six pots as it was designed for 4.

^^Yes, I am aware of that. Thing is I already have the full set-up and I'm wondering if I should try to install it or ebay it.

The six piston also doesn't bolt right up. Seems I may need (looks to me) an FE mounting bracket. Is that correct?

Bump! Waiting for info. The dealership here says that Husaberg Canada, says that a FS can't use the six piston caliper. Is there a part # for the FE bracket?

That is correct, just buy the lower piece.
The 6 piston caliper beringer works fine with the Beringer Airotec radial master pump, this have a 12,5mm piston, which in my opinion is enough for a smooth feeling in the brake lever.

Both the FTE or & piston have enough braking capacity to stop the bike, its all about diffrent feeling.

We use the 6piston due to then its easy to swap to enduro brakes when running other wheels.

The 2004 set-up on the FS is the best so far, with the Beringer rotor, and can be moved to a FE with out any problem.

Does anybody know if you can purchase the lower part of the fork, and is this interchangeable without compromising the suspension? (like with oil dumping out every where?)

Part number for the Axle clamp (according to the spare parts catalog) is: 4860.0237S
You'll find it in page 10, it's item #60

Empty the fork from fluids before you change the axle clamp otherwise you'll just dribble oil all over the place.
(a friend of mine once emptied his left fork leg during breaking because of a loose inner tube that had unscrewed it self from the axle clamp. Quite interesting to try to break with the break disc covered in fork fluid... 8O )
