It is a pretty awesome place to ride, lots of variety. I just assumed that the majority of FR4 attendees would be from the USA, so it's logical to have it down there. Plus, since your all shady characters, I would imagine half of ya would get stuck at the border!

I would vote for oregon or bc. Advantage to oregon is a couple of good berg dealers. Disadvantage to oregon is i've ridden there a bit already.

I vote TN, first because it's my back yard, second is because I am a good Berg Dealer. At least my Mommy say's I am.

Second vote for TN. I would vote NC, save for two things:

1) Our riding sucks.
2) We don't have a Berg dealer.

:?: What are Oregon trails like? :?: I have always wanted to go there, the next FR would be a good reason to go.

Central Oregon has the best trail system I have ever ridden it’s not especially scenic but will not be disappointed. You will probably have more fun riding in central Oregon then any of the previous force rides. It’s not scenic like Moab or Colorado but the trails are just a blast to ride.

My vote is for Oregon and I would be more than willing to do whatever to help out.

Thanks, those pics of the trails do look like a blast to ride on. Is there single track there too, trails ATVs can't fit on?

If there is, it's not well known, or else I just suck at finding it, but we've mostly been in the bend area for the china hat race, so not much time for exploring. The riding we've done at china hat and winom-frazier is the sort that is super fun for all skill levels, but not too hard for anyone, which makes it kinda cool for group gathering of mixed skills.

I don't worry about it because Idaho has pretty much most of the singletrack in the US, and almost none of it is suitable for less than advanced riders, so twisty windy atv stuff is a nice change of pace.

At China Hat Their is no single track like they have in Idaho every trail for the most part is 50" wide and they do a pretty good job of keeping the trail in good shape.
There is a place not to far from China Hat called Lava Rocks that is mostly single track at this time but is is supposed to be changing Not sure when though. If you want difficult/technical ridding this is not the place

I love trails like the pictures that I saw on the web site that johnnycat posted. those are my kind of trails. I only do tight rocky single track because I suck so badly at it, figure if I keep doing it I will hopefully get better at it eventually. I am beginning to enjoy it but, I love fast twisties like the pictures showed, cuz they are easy & fun & that is what I am about, FUN & smiles :bounce3:

I think this question was raised when China Hat was put on the table for FR3. What about accomodations ? If memory serves there was only "dry" camping and no rooms/ cabins close by ?

Yes Stoveguy that is correct and does pose some logistical challenges but challenges that I believe we could overcome.

Maybe I’m wrong, but by the pictures from FR3 it looked like most people had to travel from the campground to the staging areas in Gunnison. It would be no different here.

If we could work out camping at the riding area that would be better but it doesn’t have to be, there are plenty of choices as far as lodging goes Bend is only about 25 mile away.

Just for clarification.

The first day we trucked to the "test" track and rode from there. Later on the first day we rode from Fritz's shop-so we trucked there. Drive times from the TT to Fritz's shop 10 mins, and about 10 mins to the test track.

On Day two we rode right out of the TT. Husabergs' Charles Jirsa and Rod Overstreet loaded up their sprinter and trailer with our gas cans and ice boxes and met us at the mid point/day of our ride.

On Day 3 we trucked up to the Clovins property, on the west side of the highway from Crestted Butte. About a 20 min drive from TT.

On Day 4 we trucked up to the bottom of Cement Creek-if I'm not mistaken. Again about a 20 min trip.

I'm good with camping out as I have my toy hauler. And really the only concern for those camping out are good potable water, and some place to place the processed food.

I have an outside shower on my rig, as well as the inside shower. So if you bring water, you are welcome to take a hot shower at my rig.

I'm leaning towards returning to Gunnison as I believe that we barely scratched the surface of the available riding there. In the lead up to FR 3, Dezduster drew a radius from Gunnison outwards, and Gunnison was pretty centrally located when one considers the travelling distances for all the UHE members in the states.

And, from the litte bit of single track riding I have done in Idaho, I'd have to agree with Velo, some of it is no problem for anyone, but, along those same trails are some sections that require "skills" and a level of fitness that would not be well suited to a diverse group, and conducive to "a good time for all".

Looking very forward to your footage Dale, Can't wait to see it :hello1: Thanks for taking your time to put it all together.

i would suggest riding at lower altitudes would facilitate using the month of march again. march is a cracking month if before easter as well. it would be good to take up some of the good points from both moabs. we knew even then that being a matter of yards from the trails was a blessing. the police being fairly loose was another.

all stuff to stir in the pot.
