i did check it out once and the downpipe on the side of the house was exactly right - MEASURED!!!

Taffy

Taffy,

I don't understand what you mean here :) Downpipe on the side of the house.

Can anyone confirm the measurements of the 04 boot. Is it ID 55, and approx 30 mm longer than the 02 boot ?

Thanks,

Anders, DK

the ID of the boot is 63mm ID. in england the water comes off the roof into a 'gutter' then drops down a 'downpipe' into the ground.

sometimes we use round pipe and sometimes square.

Taffy

Thanks,

Right, so you are telling me to use a gutter to collect the fuel, and let it run down a square pipe into the the engine...

That's gonna work fine.

Just got the local dealer to measure the boot for me as well. He tells me they are same dia as the old ones, but slightly different shape. Apparently you can not buy the old ones anylonger and he even fits the new ones to the Dellorto. So no way that will fit on my OD 55 mm FCR.

I think I'm gonna end up with a custom adapter here.... But still hoping for an easy option.
On the intake side i was suggested by Cypher to fit the alu intake from Schleenbecker-Moto.de, and then use the new rubber clamp. Have just spoken to them, and they only make them in 38 mm ID. No good for me !

So do I !!!

I just handed my bike in for a professional to make me a custom, press fit, alu adaptor for my FCR. He's going to grind a bellmouth in the carb as well to eliminate turbulence.

I will stick to the cut off-old stlye rubber inlet at the engine. Will post some pics when I am back from work in a month or so.

I am still very interested in comments to my jetting though. Especially the needle which I have not read about before. NCY R ????

Taffy, du you have any of those "gutter to engine" adapters available in your shop ??

My first impression of upgrading to FCR is quite good. Startnig was a lot better when hot and idle was smoother. The engine was more controllable. With the jetting mentioned above it pulled a wheelie purely on the throttle in 3rd. And thats with my new higher street gearing 16/42. Cant wait to get it fine tuned !

Kind regards,

Cypher,

It's for my 650. I read a lot about this upgrade on the forum and it seems that there is so many versions which lead to different problem on different bikes. But it's good to prepare yourself for the fitting problems.

I get the idea with the alu intake you pictured. It'll then need a rubber to clamp the carb in. But looking at your pictures you havn't used your self ??

I could be blind....

no i didnt, i just butchered the old rubber with a sharp knife and it fitted ok.

think it was because they didnt have any of the rubbers when i ordered the part.

this is how i did it. got a new bell-mouth (they are plastic) 04-up berg, cut the carb side off and j-b weld the air boot side to the carb. filled in the gap with j-b weld (epoxy) and sanded down to a smooth finish. plastic bell only cost $8.00 US.

Excellent.. I would have done that if i had not already handed it over to the importer for a custom adaptor. Your way seems perfect as you get the correct smooth bellmouth shape. Good & Cheap idea, if it lasts...

How many custom adaptors will you get? I am interested in one too!!

El-snorro. Just the one for my self. Because the Husaberg Importer that does it for me is only doing as a favour, not for business. So I really cannot ask him for anything more,
Sorry,

Had my adaptor put on the other day. The guy made it from plastic and it works !
What a thrill with this FCR upgrade. So far I have not changed any jetting, see my numbers above. Think it came straight off a Honda. It it so responsive and no matter how hard I try I cannot get a bog..
Starting is very good off the button. It has a tendency to slip now in the cold (5 celsius), but it only takes one rev of the engine and it fires up. The hotstart does the job as well.
I am very impressed with the FCR and what it does to the bike. Highly recomendable.

Ok,

So if I have this correctly, you can install a FCR MX41 into the same spot as a Dellorto that comes on the 03 400FSe(like I have, but mine has a 550 motor now installed) but the intake boot does not fit correctly??

I have a couple of different FCR's avail to me both 41mm and the bike still has the oval bored Dellorto on it. I have now heard conflicting stories on whether or not to go with the FCR as I will not only be using it on the street but at the Supermoto track as well. both FCR's have the bolt on intke bell and one of them has the PowerNow bell installed and is already jetted rich as it came off a KTM SMR with the 540 kit installed.

Some have said stay with the Dellorto it will make more power, but it is a ***** to get started with it, some have said put on the FCR as it will give you a better overall start/power and overall feel for the motor.......

What is the concensus??? Dellorto or FCR???
