Husaberg factory rider Oriol Mena takes victory in E2 and overall.
The Husaberg rider keeps fascinating the world of enduro. After winning the spanish Cross Country Championship Oriol Mena & Husaberg keep on turning everything upside down in this first season together as he now starts dominating the enduro.
Oriol has dominated the Cross Country and has arrived at this first round of the spanish Enduro Championship with the challenge of fighting against the best national and international enduro riders. Nobody wanted to miss the chance of a first positioning among competitors at this traditional race in Segre, with the first WEC round only one week ahead.
Mena started into the competition on Saturday by winning the first two special stages aboard his Husaberg FE 450 and managed to keep up his lead until the end of the first race day. He not only won his class, the E2, but took also the overall victory ahead of the enduro legends Juha Salminen and David Knight.
Finnish Husaberg factory rider Valtteri Salonen also used the opportunity to check his ability in competition at this first round of the spanish championship. On Saturday he finished 5th in E2 and 10th overall.
On Sunday Oriol started as leader of the championship and made it on the podium again, in third position in E2, whereas Salonen brought his Husaberg FE 450 home in 6th position in E2 and again 10th overall.
After these first two days of racing, Oriol Mena leads the championship standings&nb sp;not only in his category E2 but also overall, and everybody is already curious what he is capable of showing at the first WEC round in Penafiel, Portugal on the weekend, where he is one of the main title contenders in the junior class EJ.
