Leak or normal?

Hello again! There is a hole on my 2002 FE400e, behind the cooling pump and leaks cooling water every time it gets hot. I checked the manual and it is not in the pics. Is this a normal wheephole or a leak I have to stop? Please look at the photos, it seems that it is a perfect round hole but I had never see it and it worries me

you need to get the sidecover off and fit a new w/p seal. remember that you see the back of the seal and not the front!

the secret in putting the cover on is to push it down at such an angle that the seal sits in the middle of the seal. it can feel 'weird' but you must do what the seal wants.

also make a bishops mitre out of some masking tape on the end of the waterpump shaft and this will also save the lip of the seal.

Taffy I am sorry, I don't understand what you are saying. The leak is not coming from the gasket but from a pinhole on the sidecover. Did you see the photos? Why is there that hole?

Can't I just stop the leak with some silicone from outside? What is the use of the pinhole since the fridge has a steam valve?

i never mentioned gasket john come on! i said seal what??? 4 times?? maybe more. seal seal seal. there you go 3 more!!!!!!!

your seal has gone, you need a new one.

it is a weephole, it appears that they weep commonly, some say to make sure that the water in the rad only covers the cores by 10 - 15mm, any more and the pressure inside the cooling system causes the leek.

oil weep seems more common though, my 550 does it very sporadically, I can honestly attest that water level in the radiator, and oil level only just showing in the bottom of the sight glass (not overfull) has helped stop mine from weeping.

awilksch I did read your posts about oil level after whosahberg's prompt for search on '' weep hole '' and I am just grateful. I am afraid I need a new seal even when remove some oil from the engine because I tried to add some coolant and it all comes out through the weephole.

Taffy you were always a great help and mainly the reason I decided to donate for the forum ASAP when you helped me with my gearing issue. (I think I lost the 3rd gear but that's another thread to go). I am sorry if I caused you to loose your good temper but I try the hardest to understand your English and I am not a mechanic so...

Anyway I'll buy that bearing seal and work it out... Many thanks

I copied the seal number from the Husaberg parts pdf and asked it from the local store, they do not have an entry for that code. Can anyone help how to get the seal? Is there any universal code like there is for bearings?

Funny, I did not notice a seal when I removed the covercase the first time... Anyway, will try and feedback, thanks a lot

That's all folks, I fixed it! Thanks to you! Now it's clean and dry! Also I got the neutral back when engine is running because I lowered the oil level (thanks to you again!), and obviously the pressure is smaller. I made myself the casecover gasket and the water pump gasket and I am very proud of it, it did not even need gasket-glue! I post a pic of the failed seal. Thanks again!

Two easy questions
1. Where do I click to donate?
2. How can I post a pic that will be viewable in the thread with no need to download?
