Re: Well.. Electrex s*it hit the fan!

Well what can I say, just got back from the Uk after a 2500 mile drive to read this, not happy at all, look Peter (MD Electrex) I don’t know what your problem is may be its because I didn’t spell the word Satan correctly I don’t know but it’s pretty obvious that you see me as some sort of threat, which to be honest I don’t think I have too much to worry about in that dept.
As in one of my first postings I said I am a qualified armature winder and have been since 1980 with a six year previous apprenticeship, so can I ask you your qualifications and Experience?
I get real pleasure in what I do especially when some thing can be improved and made better than the original thing and I know what I do obtains this, I have achieved many goals in winding this is only one, so I know myself I have nothing to prove.

And regarding NZbergs comments yes he has sent me four back, one as he admitted he didn’t fit correctly and the flywheel had been rubbing on the ignition laminations the other three have been over tightened, this causing the ignition windings to come away from the main body. As an accurate guess I have rewound about 1200 of these SEM units both for Husaberg Husky and KTM, and NZbergs are the only ones that I have had trouble with, one returned yes two well, three well well well.

Thanks you guys for all the support to this slanderous person(s) sarga. I did have my suspicions that something was a foot and a bit of a plant.
And thanks Json (Schwim) for the detective work all mails leave a finger print.

Regards

Steve.

Deformed Laminations

Hi All,

Here are a couple of photos that I took of the lamination stack that came back from NZberg, I promised I would post him them in am email but seeing as he brought up the subject I thought it might be good for all to see, make up your own minds.
The other problem it presents is the laminations sit on an aluminium boss and where the oval slots are the casting is not quiet as thick as the rest so in turn this area gets compressed as well.
The three fixing screws only need a very small amount of tightness from a screw driver socket with thread lock and this will secure it Ok.

Regards

Sparks.

RE: Deformed Laminations

Certainly appears that they were overtightened.
NZberg I don't know what torque wrench you were using but I suspect it was one with a high maximum value. Be aware that torque wrenches are most inaccurate when using the bottom 10% of the scale.

As a clarification to my previous post on using Electrex stators in a KTM I was incorrect. The stator I used was an Electrosport not an Electrex.

As for Electrex I would not ever use one just because of the despicable tactics they have used here to slander Sparks. Really logging on as different users from the same PC and not expecting to be caught out shows their lack of intelligence anyway.

RE: Deformed Laminations

The '03 manual lists 8NM torque spec for the stator screws. I use 5NM and some blue loctite.
