Best chain for FE650

I just removed the supermoto wheels on my FE650 and realized the chain was too short for my off road wheels. I went from 42 to 48 tooths. The manual says to use X ring. I already have 2 almost brand new DID 520VM 112 links (one is from the supermoto setup)

Here is my questions:
1) What is the orginal chain brand, model and # of links that comes with a FE650?
2) What is the best type for longevity?
3) Is the DID 520VM a good chain? I would like to stay with the same brand so I don't have to carry different master links.
4) Best place for shopping chains (US or Canada)?

Need answers ASAP!!! No chain no fun!!

THANKS.

the original chain is the DID chain , the number of links depends on the gearing .
the model of chain is 520 vm .

the DID is a good product , it is not the only good quality brand

the secret to making them last is maintenance , like cleaning, adjustment , and using a good quaility lube .

i dont reside in canada - sorry

DID VR3, NO MASTER LINK
I HAVE THEM ON FE & FS 650'S AND 999R DUCATI

i dont use the x ring as i find the x seal wears to quick even when lubed every day.i use a heavey duety o ring did or other good quality there are loads out there.if only useing on the road then yes an x ring but if useing for both go the o ring root but heavey duety they last a lot longer.if you look at the seals from both you will see the diference x ring it thin and flimsy compaired to the o ring this is why they wear so quick.xring usualy lasts me about 12 months off/on road,o ring the one i have now is 2 years old and still verry good inc sproketts and used daily.

Regina non o ring,much lighter,...
just keep it clean and lubricated,.
makes the most power,.

Yep, that extra .25 hporsepower that you will gain on the 650 with that non-oring chain, one of the most powerful dirt bikes around, is very important. :D

Make sure and keep a spare chain in your fanny pack for all long rides. You'll be needing it.

am 40 years old benn using these on everything never had any failure,.
had many with other o ring/xring garbage, but thanx for the heads up,.
whats a fanny pack,as i am hetro,do you use this fanny pack when you race supermoto???
can it help my slow lap times, and does it hurt the first time??
i have some pix of a sis oring that had over 60 fractures,..

ride67, i think what johnf3 is saying is that as far as the off-road world is concerned, a sealed ring chain is superior to a non-sealed. (be careful mixing genre john, the sm people are a different breed than the crusty dirtmongers you hang out with, somewhat related to the marquis).
in a sandy or extremely dirty event, like the alligator enduro, a new non-sealed chain was toast at the end.
