Hey this may have been covered already, but is MOAB in a dry county? Jwilly and I were talking today and an adventure that I had in Idaho came up, we had traveled 13 hours to land in a dry county and Beerless...100+ in the shade, tired and NO BEER! it sucked. To the people in the know, do we need to plan ahead in this department?

YA but isn't Utah limited to diluted beer. I don't imbibe personally, but i seem to think that if you can get it, it tastes more like water than anything else...

The wise ones will come prepared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you go to a resturant for dinner DO NOT order a cocktail thinking you will get a real drink.............. even if you order a double it is still a kids drink :p

Resturant, We all thought you were doing all the cooking and cleaning. That and BOSS was buying ALL the BEER..

Utah has strange liquor laws. I cannot even begin to cover them all, but the beer you buy is 3.2%. Hard liquor can only be sold in a "club",usually a bar with a door charge for membership. There is a state liquor store in Moab which sells liquor of all sorts, it is expensive. Resturants can sell beer and wine with meals. Simpler to bring lots of what you like to consume.

And no selling the 3.2% beer on Sundays, either! The Mormon faith has deep roots in the control of Utah.... Not to worry, the cold beer is still refreshing!

I remember when my buds and I made the trek to The Widowmaker in Utah each year from Colorado, we packed tons of beer...we felt like smugglers! Some of the old guys made up stories to get the younger ones worrying about being put in the pokie if caught!

Don't forget plenty of ice for the beer. Warm beer sucks!

This is why I asked! My memories of going to St Anthony Idaho looms in the back of my little pea brain. It was quite traumatic to travel thirteen hours, three up in my standard cab pick-up, a sand rail on a trailer my bike and all our camping gear in the back of the truck, we looked like some sort of a rolling flea market going down the road. It is the end of July, so its is well into triple digit temps, we get to the St Anthony dunes and our first mission is a booze run. We head into the nearby town and spend ten minutes looking for the beer isle, finally we ask one of the check out ladies where the beer isle is, and she looked at us like we were a bunch of heathens and says"this is a dry county, the nearest liqueur store is seventy five miles from here!". We SH!T! What in the F$%K is a DRY county! Seventy five miles later we were back in business and drinking heavily! OH good times....I thought they made this crap up for movies, and from what I can see, most of the people that live there, could use a good stiff drink!

Bring the beer you like and a BUNCH of it.
I will store in my truck for you.
And I will provide a bike wash daily.

All this talk of beer and alcohol? I was under the assumption the FORCE RIDE was a "dry" affair. Am I wrong?

Is it a coincidence this thread was started by a man who lives near the best brewery in the land (Bendberg). That would be the Deschutes Brewery located in Bend, Oregon. Brewers of my fave; Black Butte Porter.

Logjump's beer theory or beer theery;
if you can hold a pint up to the sun and can actually see the great ball of fire, you got piss water in your cup!

Idea for you guys on your Force Ride: each person (group) should take along some local beer (or as best represented locally) and share with the group. Also have the story of how the brewery came around -- everybody loves to hear that! The more I read...the more I envy you guys on this "outing..." Remember to tell any girls going along to watch out where they put their hands on the ground when "emptying." Scorpions can dash a good time! You can see them at night with a blacklight, maybe take along some blacklight flashlights?? A scorpion hunt?

Log, I have to take exception, Black Butte Porter is a fine Beer is you like drinking Baby $hit. I'll take a Labats, Becks or a Becks Light. Hey, for that matter if your thirsty and its cold even Hamms will taste OK. Lucky Lager on the other hand tastes like hell even if its a slushy.

hey Logjump I'll have a wee pint of thr Baby $hit Please.
Ahh, a cask drawn Porter. Like mom's milk, Mom did drink a bit.

so how does some Canadian beer mix in wth this. Labatt's ..... Well at least we can agree on our favourite motorcycle, beer is beer afterall, there is no bad beer, just some are better than others.

Bobzilla, are you still on your two beer limit?
