Husaberg 380CC Piston Kit?

I just found this on the Husaberg.se web site.

It looks like a factory advertisement template for a 380 cc piston kit.

Personally, I am not interested in buying this, but I have read several posts that indicate interest in a smaller displacement.

Do any of you readers know anything about this?

Joe

Why would you want to do lower the displacement?

Like I said, I am not interested, I ride a 00 501 and a 04 550. Some riders, such as Taffy, mourn the day when Husaberg dropped the 400 from the product line in favour of the 470, and then the 450! They ride green lanes, and like the mellow power delivery of the 400 for the sloppy, muddy conditions in the British Isles..

I just posted the Template because of them.

Regards,

Joe

A 3xx displacement would be the size I would need. I have been thinking about the idea of sleeving and using a ktm 89mm piston on the 60.1 stroke.

There you go, about 372 cc. Should be a great woods bike!

Lets see, a sleeved down berg, which is at least 9 lbs lighter than a HonYamHus 250f (as per Dirt Riders scales ). Should work well for ya shouldn't it Brendan? :) I'll treate ya to a demo in Aug if you decide to come up.

Wow!! Thanks, Fryguy! I'd love to try one of those out. The way I see it, if a really heavy guy like Taffy only needs a 400, then a lightweight like me does not have much business riding a big bore. I only want about 35hp, no more. I do plan on attendingin August. The current plan is to follow Bobzilla and company up there.

Its the new force part kit 380cc with lower con rod ( stoke).it will be in dealers hand end of March 2006.

Hi Joe,

As indicated above, the 380 is a really good choice for trail riders who simply want to be able to chug across the cuntry side at an "easy" going pace and also who want to add more reliability and less maintenance to their steed. Over here the 380 has been a popular modification with several UK dealers converting second hand larger capacity bikes to the 380. It really is a trail or soft enduro option, not for lunatics like you who zoom through the desert at breakneck speeds

Kind regards,
Simon

For what it may be worth:
The 350 Husaberg was quite a success in it's day. Such was prior to ISDE rules being revised to allow a displacement of 400 cc.

The early 350 had easy power delivery and was quite fun to ride.

The 380 could indeed be a blast in the woods!

they was quite a discussion on another forum i go to about the 380 kit that is avalible from the uk distributor.

the writer went on a test weekend where he and several riders of varying ability tried out all the bikes incl. the 380,

they all loved it.

i've currently got an 03 400, having always ridden either converted 250 mx bikes or large 4st mainly ktm 525's i can perfectly understand why some may want to down size.

Since there is a big power difference between the 250F and 450F, a MX vet 380 might be a good choice? Since shops are trying to push 280cc to 350 out of a 250F. The 450 is much easier to ride than the 550 on MX. I know my next CC choice will be smaller.

Where did you find that? I looked around and didn't see it. Is there other goodies as such?

At www.husaberg.se

click on 'Downloads' then on 'Templates'

It will appear as a thumb nail picture, 'Husberg A4 no text.jpg

click on the file title, and it will open full size.

You can save the full size file to your computer.

Hope this helps,

Joe

Power is everything a 400 is unbeatable in tight woods personally
I think that I was faster on my 400 than I am on my 450 the nice thing
with that size you can lug it and you can rev it a 250f all you can do is
to rev it and with a 650 all you do is lug the engine if try to rev it scary
things will happen among slippery rocks and rots interestingly
Mike Lafferty runs a 400 in GNCC
so long

The person who said that was a very smart man and he knows his stuff very well.

you're making it far more technical than it really is lads!

the 450 has a very wide (100mm) bore and a very short stroke at 57mm. the 400 had a 60 stroke and a bore of 90mm. all you're seeing here is the 450 with it's short stroke being given the 400 piston.

so all in all it's the 400 of old with a 3mm shorter stroke.

in the meantime though it has a better carb, ignition and cam. i would imagine it's all my 400 ever was. it was gutless but the cam changed that. the cam is now fitted.

regards

Taffy
