hey guys.
just reading my owners manual and noticed in the oil change section that it states : LAY THE MOTORCYCLE DOWN AND FILL FILTER HOUSING HALF FULL WITH OIL THEN INSERT FILTER,,,
i tried this as i just changed filter and the oil didnt stay in housing,,!

does anybody even do this?

I don't, I guess one would have to insert the filter slow enough to let the oil run into it? I just kick over several times with comp. release pulled after the oil change, don't know if it does any good, but it makes me feel better about not putting oil in the filter housing.
 
the idea is that the oil should be instantly there after an oil change. howeve, besides the rings there isn't a part in that engine that wouldn't last 20 minutes on idle (tickover) without an oil pump. it really is over cautious and i wouldn't worry about it. your engine will be under full pressure after about 1 second.
