Hi all
A battery issue resulted in damaged to digital speedometer on my FE400e.
Good knews is that the unit in fact survived, still powers on and works of the 3V CR battery (had to be replaced), but no longer powers up from the bike and also backlight doesn't come on.
Thankfully all of the damage appears to be contained to "surge protection circuitry".
Based on some careful dissection of melted SMDs, it looks like:
- standard diode, 0.66V on multimeter in forward bias
- varistor 4032 K14 0231
- diode and varistor appear to be connected in parallel
Help needed:
- Photo of the PCB with components still on to confirm direction and numbers.
- PCB diagram
- any other helpful tips on repair
Many thanks in advance
