What is this mystery button?

Hello all - I inherited a 2010 FX 450 that was my brother's. All I got with the bike was a box of old parts and a User Manual that the mice had half eaten.
I sunk some money into it and got it running, but I have no idea what this button is for. The wiring harness schematic doesn't even show these 2 wires.
The big connector is the starter, 23 is the fuel light and the other connector is the function code light. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

So how does this work exactly? Do you just toggle it through the different modes?
Sorry, I am not at all familiar with this bike. How do you know which mode you are in? I think I read somewhere that there are 3?

Okay, I just figured out that it isn't a button at all. It is just a cover.
Underneath, there is a dial from zero to 9. It is set to zero right now.
I would assume zero = least aggressive and 10 most?
 
I believe only the first 3 work. My memory is shot! 0 -1 -2

someone else will recall.
