2003 fe501 cylinder head repair/replacement questions

Hello Husaberg community! My name is Tristan and I am from Washington State, USA. I have a 2003 FE501 that I bought a little over a year ago with ~50 hours on the clock. I put about 10 hours on the bike and it ran decently, but while jetting/tuning the carb I was doing repeated WOT runs and she started consuming oil suddenly. Lots of oil. Upon pulling the head I found both intake valve guides were very loose. One had been replaced with an oversized guide, but it was not large enough and had been epoxied into the head. Doh! I'm surprised it ran as well as it did and didn't burn oil sooner.

I have some questions to inform the decision whether to attempt to find a shop to repair, or simply replace the head.

I have seen various heads for sale on ebay and I'm wondering about compatibility.
1. Does it need to be from a 2003? If not, what years would work? I know there were changes made in 2000, 2001, 2002, etc. but I am wondering if the castings are compatible and I can switch over the parts I have. I have a new cam, cam bearings, follower bearings, valve springs, etc. to put in but don't know if they will fit in a head from another year or CC.

2. Does it need to be a 501 or could it be from a 470, 550 or even 650?

I found a 470 head in Portland that looks very similar but it's a 2002. It doesn't have the threaded towers on either side of the cam. I also see 650 heads close by but assume they are different.

The only 2003 501 heads I have found ship from Germany.

Any help or threads on here I missed in the search would be much appreciated. Here are some photos to back up my woes.

Furthermore, ordering a complete head from Germany today can get you a complete head at your doorstep quicker than from some parts of the US

Thanks for the response. I'm not uncomfortable with sourcing parts internationally, it's the expensive shipping that concerns me. A similar head shipped from Portland would cost $20 USD to ship as opposed to $100+ USD.

You're right Zebra, I'm just trying to save a few bucks to put toward gas.

you can use oversized guides in that head if the motor engineers will take the guide hole out to 13mm (from 12mm). What the engineer will ask you is if one of the holes is in VGC. if it is, they can what they call 'pick up' to know where the second one should go.

I do oversized guides.

The heads for the 2001-2003 are essentially the same bar the 400 head which has smaller valves.
