Hey everyone, I’m the new owner of an absolutely destroyed 2006 FE550 and I’m dire need of a flywheel. My original one came apart and the magnets were discarded after they ate the stator. Is it possible that a KTM unit might cross reference? Any help would be really appreciated…I’ve searched high and low and I’ve hit a dead end. I’m attaching a pic for reference.

NO. our flywheels are on the right and there's on the left. we have 33d of advance and if you put a KTM on you'll still get 33 degrees alright..... ********!

That makes perfect sense. I guess I’ll just keep hunting for a second hand unit or see about re cutting the keyway on a different unit to match the ignition specs of the 550

I’m at a loss for words! I located a pulse generator for a Polaris snowmobile that I shoved inside this contraption and reached out to Joel for a new used flywheel. Here’s the loss for words part. Approximately a day before ordering the flywheel, I ordered a new jacket from a company in Seattle. The jacket is yet to arrive, but an engraved flywheel and a bottle of fine German beer arrived via UPS today from Joel in Germany….ENGRAVED…he engraved the flywheel with my name on it! As if, in 500 years when this bike is discovered in some dystopian Mad Max type scenario, they’ll hang the flywheel on a wall in a cave and worship the legend of the man that once rode it.
As a side note…this ridiculous bike runs…not well, but it runs. This winter I’ll be tearing it down to its bare bones for a rebuild, but for today it runs with a case full of milky oil. Hats off to Bergdoktor, whom I’ll be ordering all my bike parts from in the future.
Did I mention that the price was incredibly reasonable?? Thanks so much!
