2004 Frame colour

Afternoon all,

The powder coating on my 04 650 frame is starting to go, it looks not bad on first inspection, but there’s enough of it missing to need re-coating.

Very happy to see the factory have applied the VIN and data decals on top of oversized clear vinyl, I was preparing to lose both in the re-coat but ‘should’ be able to remove them with a little heat, alcohol and patience.

Its 20C and sunny here today and with the glasses on I noticed for the first time now it’s clean, the factory coating has a subtle metallic in it.

This does throw up a potential problem as from searching this site, the 04 frame colour is confirmed as RAL 5017 which on a monitor looks close, if not correct. But it’s a flat blue, not metallic.

Anyone else researched this and reached a conclusion?

I just stuck to the RAL and even then the RAL everyone was talking about was for the 2002 and that is a darker RAL then the 2004.

You might try Fiat 334/a

cheers

Taffy

I powder coated my wheels and hubs to match the original frame found the blue to be spot on and the yellow was close enough for me.

Husaberg blue = RAL 5017
Husaberg yellow = RAL 1018

Hi, I see that you have a really nice looking bike, I just got a 04 FE 450, do you know where I can order brand new plastics like yours?
