Hi!
Just picked up a 2005 fe550 last weekend that ran like crap! would only run and take any throttle if i maxed out the mixture screw to the point it fell out.
Wrenched like a mad man all night, did an oil change and swapped various parts in the carb from the carb on my 250 ktm. Found that the needle retaining screw was missing the spring that keeps the needle from bouncing all over the place, got that from the other carb and voilá, runs like a champ. Looks kind of like a turd but seems reasonably sound, starts easy cold and hot. Think i saw 400 hours on the display before it went dark. No idea whats been done to it but the previous owner claimed the carb was overhauled, i have my doubts at this point :bounce: Front wheel bearings was totally wasted, but I stole the front wheel of the 250 sx-f and went for a rip. Loved the bike and i'm thinking it's a keeper.

If i have learned anything about myself it's that i most certanly will tear into this engine at some point, for peace of mind if nothing else. My KTM is a basket case project with wasted engine that i've been spending way to much money on so the 550 will have to run this summer at least before something drastic happens. Might sort out some electrical issues, brakes, tires, sprockets etc.

Been wrenchin' and riding bikes on and off road since i was about the lenght of three apples, Harleys, Triumphs, Yamaha, Honda, Ktm, etc. And now Husaberg.
Been riding mostly 300 2-strokes for a while and feels great to have some four-strokes to play with again.

Will probably lurk around mostly, learning about these bikes from you guys but might pop a question or provide some wisedom (or something) if i can every now and then.

Picture from my first rip around the village
Peace!

Welcome from Aus!

More crazy Nordic types, just what we need.

You actually own up to Harleys?! At least you only need a hammer to work on them.............

The 'Berg will be a keeper, and huge fun as well.

Enjoy!

welcome to Bergworld.

it was for racing and is very slim. the 7L tank doesn't let you see much frame infront of the tank and is like the original at the front. the 6L shows a LOT of frame infront and above the tank.
