It's my understanding that Renthal is the company who produces the swingarms for Husaberg, and I believe KTM as well.

It is also my understanding there was a problem with a batch of swingarms that were produced due to a problem with inferior material, which was also an anomally. This bad batch of swingarms was identified, and isolated by produciton serial numbers, these numbers were then sent to all dealers and the dealers were supposed to have checked their bikes and replaced the swingarms before delivery. So I am curious if these swingarms were a part of the bad batch. I had seen a thread a couple of months ago with a picture of a similarly broken swingarm, and I think it was from Italy.

Knock on wood, no problems with mine.

Please let us know if these broken arms were indeed part of the bad batch.

I also noticed that the rear disc on the lower pic is not like my 04. The one in the pic has slots whereas mine has holes. The one in the pic is more like my 01. And, I believe the disc design did not change until the 04 model line came out. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not, but, I would venture a guess that these are early 04's.

regarding the swingarm failures.there was a small number of swingarms that were built and known to be defective for the 2004 model year.they were to be replaced before actual sale by the dealer.it might be posible that some have slipped thru the cracks.the swingarms are numbered so defective ones can be identified.i think anyone having issues should check with their dealer/distributor regarding a problem.best of luck.dan.
