Oil and Fuel in Air Filter Housing ???

Hello,

I am new to this so go easy!

My cousin bought a 2015 FE 450 on Saturday, it had done 50 miles from new, anyways drives it back (less than 300 miles now) all good.

Next day spotted it had been leaking, so he's started looking and took out the air filter and it looks like a mix of oil and fuel in the housing.

Any ideas???

It was also a bit sluggish to start the next day if that's related?

He may have over oil the filter? Or use wrong oil? Try reoiling it with name brand oil. Don't know about the gas though?

Or it came through the breather hose. Check the engine oil and see how it looks, both oil level and if it has any fuel in it.

Hi,

I had the same problem :D, why ! because i had too much oil , remember 1L (period).

When i get it hot and push it hard, (it only happen twice) it can "drink" the oil and start smoking :D but after 3 minuts it stop smoking, all because too much oil.

And yes it can go to the breather hose and to the air filter, and can even go to the carburator :D

hope this help

2015 FE450? Husky? Not a Husa as they were done in 14 :)

Fuel would be a strange one as the bike is fuel injected. The filter over oiling makes sense as it would created the loss of air flow and make it sluggish. The over oiling could be, but easy to tell as the nice sight window will tell you very quick. The capacity in the machine is 1.2 ltrs. and it will show a tad over half with 1.2 in it.

Oil is syn 10w50 and filter is K&N KN-652 or High Flo HF-652 KTM part number is 77338005100
