Head Pipe Shield

Well I was in need of another head pipe shield so I would not need to keep moving the one I have from bike to bike. The one I have is a P3 guard that came on a FE 450. It seams thin compared to others I have used and is chipped and cracked so I decided to try a different brand. I ordered an E-Line and they told me they would have to rebuild the mold and did not know how long it would take. The more I searched the more it seamed difficult to find a 70 degree head pipe shield. I got to thinking that some of the newer pipe guard bends looked like they might fit if I cut them down a little. I ended up choosing the Moose Racing Pipe Guard by E-Line for a 2014 Husaberg FE250 & 2011 KTM 250 XCF-W for my test. When I got it I set it against the 390 pipe (see photo) and I was amazed how close to the pipe it parallels. I ended up cutting it twice to get the fit I wanted. I drilled the new hole 2 1/2" from the hole and my final cut was on the existing hole on the curve and that seamed to worked great. I plan to modify another one for my 570
