Husaberg 600 fe is this correct carb

Hi all posted a couple of threads about this bike but striped carb of today and don't think it's the original carb I could be wrong it's a delorto vhsb38 with flat slide I'll post pic
 
i believe that carb was for the 400, but 20+ years down the road as long as it carburates, consider it good

From the start until 97/98 you had round slide and flat slide ones.

I believe that the flat slide was only for the 350 and 400 ones, I have one flat on a 400-97, that I think was the last year of the flat slide ones.

The 600 I believe it was always round slide and it was a 40. My 98 is.

Cheers zaga am Gona change it to a 41 mm pumper flat slide as just think Ian loosing top end power with the 38 mm

you won't be doing it for the power at the top end.

you've got ports and valves like squirrels ears.

that is how it was done then....

So is there no point in fitting the big carb ? Or will I just leave the 38 mm on
 
no, that isn't what I said. I said that you won't be doing it for more top end. the ports are a bigger restriction than the carb.

none of us put these carbs on for 'more power', we do it because it is a better carb, a smoother carb. the bikes start and respond better. they don't wear out.

but nobody ever came on here and said; "i gained 5mph". it isn't going to happen.

if the road riders don't rid at the top end then we dirty boys defo don't.

yeah I here ya buddy am not looking for loads of hp but just want the bike to run strong as love the power it has just think it's not fuelling as good at the top as it the plug never gets dark it's always on light side and exhaust gets hot so thinking its lean ?;)
 
just renew everything in it. trouble is, the 400 jetting is different to the 600 jetting. you'd probably have better luck using Husky data!

if changing, just get a 37 or better still a 39mm FCR Keihin MX carb. they were standard on all KTM EXCs during 2004-2005.

there are loads of dell ortos about. I have a dozen here. 38mm or 40mm they all do a reasonably good job.

Okay think am Gina just get fcr carb what mods do I need to do to fit it do I need air box adaptor or new intake ?;)
 
well you want to buy it complete with the throttle tube and the push/pull cables that is the first thing.

you can use the old inlet rubber and trim 5mm off it so it becomes a single rubber lip attachment instead of two-lip. the AFA on the back will have to be around 66-68mm and that you'll see when you get the carb.

I sell the alloy AFAs, at about 40gbp each. as for jetting, any eruropean FCR should be a straight bolt on while the Jap jetting will be wrong but just about start-able and even ride-able.

remember the carbs choke and hot start knobs are high up the side. any kind of droopy fuel tanks means you aren't going to reach the buttons!

Right I'll search for carb and throttle then source any parts I need thanks for the advice I'll keep u guys posted not sure how to over come the choke buttons but will think of some thing

You won't go wrong taking Taffy's advice, but FWIW I've been running the PHM 40 on my '98 Fx600 and never had a carb problem at any speed/RPM. It starts great, idles fine, responds well, and as far as top end is concerned I doubt that you have sustained high speed areas like we have here in the Nevada desert areas and the PHM shines at high revs. Even though the FCP is indeed a more civilized modern carb I stand by the PHM with a dial-a-jet.
But I'm just an over-the-hill desert racer so you will almost certainly be better served to listen to Taffy and Ned.
 
it isn't very often we say that a round slide dell orto is a 'hop-up' kit but against the dell orto flat slide it is!

as I say, I have a few here and have discovered a wee bit to help with electric start recently.
