To squirt or not to squirt........

.......that is the question!
Been playing with the squirt timing on my 41mm FCR and apart from a early long squirt causing a puff of smoke and dirty plug after a few stationary blips I'm not sure what's giving me the best pick up? I'm using a 1/4 turn throttle which is either wide open or shut and the engine is revving hard at all times, I don't notice any bog no matter what I set it at? The very slow hairpins I might slip the clutch a tad but otherwise nailed at all times! Any real disadvantage in disconnecting it?
Many thanks

I know, this is mainly about squirting but maybe u dont mind my slightly off topic, but still carb question: what lubricant should I use for throttle valve lubrication? I am affraid that badly choosen lubricant could melt and stuff up the jets. thanks

The idea with FCR tuning is to disable the AP first, then once setup, dial it in. I find that a little bit helps, and that the better the jetting/needle is, the less AP is needed. Some is nice though. I'm using the BK mod on my 650's FCR.

The exposed thread on the screw = the gap = the stroke of the AP, more or less. Currently, OTTOMH, at about 0.2 mm. Any more and its too hard to ride in technical terrain.

I use a bit of Silicone spray when servicing the carbs to lube the slide and rollers. Help much? Dunno...

Damn... I guess I still have a lot to learn. I don't know anything about the carb on my bike other than it starts easily, so I assume it's set up well.

Can't get the 'thanks' to work!!:(

Many thanks lads, good advice as always;) think I'll set it up with a tad of squirt early doors:rolleyes:
(Early doors is a very British expression!). :spin:

bushie: I mean nr.4, the skateboard that moves the jet needle and the arm on which it hangs. I have some white lithium bicycle grease I will give it a try. thanks

Hi

You also have another way to limit the squirt, I've use the screw but now I'm using the spacer.

Here is one example

Interesting, I hadn't seen that one before. There is also the Taff mod for the earlier style FCRs like I have on my 501, and adjustable leak jets from Boyeson and Merge that have the same effect.
