Also do you know if the new clutch cover that you also got is the 04 or is it some special part ? And if it is 04, do you think it can be fit in to the 03 casing ?

Can you post pictures ?

Yes it does fit. (Guess the serial number on that engine... :bounce3: )
FYI the old water pump cover does NOT fit the new clutch cover.
On a 2003 it's a straight fit. On a 2002 you might want to drill and tap the hole for the screw just rear of the kick.
That hole doesn't exist on the -02 side cover but the casing is prepared for it. Go figure...

The newer kick axle and kick is also a straight fit but the new gear shift axle is NOT a straight fit!
To mount the newer gear shift axle in a -02 casing you have to remove 1,5 mm of material with a lathe.
If you don't the cover will lock the gear shifting axle and you won't be able to shift.
I removed 1,5 mm of the axles contact surface that makes contact to the casing.
It's going to be fun this summer to ask other Husaberg owners that knows year recognition only by side covers what year my engine is.

regards

/Nick

Hi Ghost

Very interesting, didn't knew it was possible to do that.

The new kick it's easy to fit in the older engines, I've done it, and it's much better than the old one, and I understand you when you say you have to machine the casing in the kick area.

Thanks

Just to clarify, I did the machining on the gear lever axle. Never touched the casing. :)

Hello,
I wonder if you can tell me what model is this engine.
Thought it was 97/98 now it seems it is unlikely...

Many thanks for any info.

Hi BOMBER

Sorry haven't seen your post.

he numbers that count are the die cast ones, not the engraved ones, but anyway I can't find your numbers ???

But yes by the pictures I would say it's a 97/98, 97 by the colour of the oil cap (blue) but 98 by the stickers.

HHUUMMMM, interesting, welcome to the husaberg world :D

Can you post some more pictures

Thanks, as soon as i get bike home I will post more pictures.
I was told that the bike has 4 speed instead 6 as 4 supposed to be stronger.
Also model is FE600.
I'm very confused about it.

As Taffy suggested best to look at the bike and compre bits with pars manual.
I'm getting bike on 21st can't bloody wait!!!

Ok, similar case to Bomber, hard to say... Bike is FS 650 E, 2004 reg plate, but hard to say what the bike is :)

Hej.
-99 or older engine, the clutch is hydraulic from -00
Regards
Jampe

Yeah, came to the same conclusion yesterday evening after comparing loads of pics online. Well, I knew that buying this bike would be risky, but at least not much money spent :)

The picture of Hagetaka's engine can only be one year, (unless it has been modified or built from other parts), this worked out by simple elimination.

1998 - Cable actuated clutch & stator attached to engine case
1999 - Cable actuated clutch & stator attached to the stator cover
2000 - Hydraulic actuated clutch & stator attached to stator cover (same as 99 to 03)

If all is standard, then this engine is from a 1999 model.

Hey there!

Some more engine numbers for your database:

'03 FE501 5013150
'02 FX470 4712102

Regards

Still no clue what I got, on plus side it is a damn good engine!
Frame has side and top air filter, which would suggest that's not motocross or enduro model?! as per page 16 in 1999 owner manual...

I was trying to find a list of years and models online but no luck, seems all pre ktm data hard to find...
any links anyone?

Thanks

Hi!

I am a new member of the Husaberg family! =)

I bought a 2001 FC650 with kehin carburator, but sadly no kick stand. Not even mounts for it.
And my engine nr is strange? Maybe someone knows?

Its: 3812472

Very nice forum btw!

I have a 1998 here with the original bike engine still together.

the engine number is 109 1 334.

I saw earlier in this thread that there was a 1997/1998 FE600 that was also 1091225. was that leccy boot or kick?

then we have a definite 1999 600cc that is 112 0 650.

we have another 1999 that starts with 114 * ***

109 is a code for something. could it be 1997/1998 leccy boot.
so is 112
so is 114

we had balancers in some engines
no balancer
leccy boot

does that make three engines?

can we have some more numbers prior to 2000? please quote the engine number and then help identify the engine.

1989-1996 no oil filter
1997 oil filter cable clutch ignition cover has no hole
1998 oil filter cable clutch ignition cover has no hole
1999 oil filter cable clutch ignition cover has a hole
2000 oil filter hydralic clutch ignition cover has a hole

what tells a 1997 from a 1998?

regards

Taffy
