I am based just above JAFAland near muriwai beach.

'Hells Bergs'

How you getting on with certing your bike?
I know good people to deal with for that sorta stuff if you haven't got them lined up already. I got some parts etc and a bit of know how if you need it.
Im sou west of you, in the waitaks.

Hey NZL 'Berg Crew. I'm also keen to catch up and talk shop. Im in Birkenhead but ride out west & SH16 most weekends... I'm waiting on spokes to arrive from Sweden, but as soon as they hit - I'm back on the road... be good to trade some notes, I'm new to the whole 'Berg experience, too. Cheers!

So the group is growing....
Let me know when yall gunna get together. "16s" a couple of hours away from my home town so no biggy for a day
Any excuse for a ride is a good one.
There is a bunch of Bergsters down south in the other island.... they keep pretty quiet tho.

Yup, good plan. I just gotta wait for some parts so I can put those thingees in the whatsit and then put the whatsit back in that big bit that holds the thing that holds wheels. Then Im sweet to roll.

Didn't even know there was a south island let alone bergs down there!

Oh and I need to find a front caliper mount for use with a 320mm disc if anyone knows where one is?

sweet. got a few things to sort out to get back on the road too, but keen for a catch up wherever suits. just good to know there are some locals out there with the same challenges! i love this bike and want to keep it going strong as long as possible. be good to swap some notes on locals that have been helpful... i've not had much luck with local supppliers when it comes to parts and service... there's one bloke down the road from me who's a bit of a berg-guru but they're far and few... will post here once i'm back on the street. cheers.

There is a dude out Clarkes beach way thats pretty good with bergs and a bloke down Taupo who used to be the importer (lotsa usefull knowledge) before KTM got into the middle of it and screwwd up supply and priceing.
I have unfortunatly been around the circle of parts supply in NZ and like most here, buy overseas (the bike shops seem sympathetic and blame the importers for being greedy.....)
I have a little knowledge of jetting and stuff and am happy to help where possable (I have built a couple of the tools required for rebuild as required).
Always keen to get together an talk Bergs.

Wait... What???.... I just bought a TE300 so joined this forum just for a bit of a look and there's all these nz fellas on here?... I'm out franklin way and would love to know who this guy is out clarkes beach who can help with parts.

stipbro... the bloke out Clarkes way is (dont quote the spelling) Guarned Gizzler (not sure of business name) who has had a bit to do with older bergs.... You prolly needa torlk to KTM about yor little bangbang rattlebox;)
But then I guess you already have and thats why your looking for alternatives....
Welcome to the forum and out of the closet!

I know gizzler already... He's actually in tuakau and I've used him before for my old Kdx... He is definitely a good bloke and reasonable with his prices.
After reading more on this forum it seems us 2 smokers don't hold too much respect here... But I'll still be picking brains when I can't figure something out!

Congrats! How is it? I'm still waiting for my wheels to be laced, but hoping to get them back this week and will be at Cycletards this Saturday getting tyres fitted... then just need to get a warrant! Did you get your warrant easy enough? I have no chain guard on my bike so that may be a problem...

cert

Hey mate, was fairly easy getting cert needed plate light so just cut bottom 10 mm off stop light and bonded some clear plastic on,,chain guards and my headlight was european so on low it shone high on the right so go a new one from cyclespot euro for a hundy and that was it, if u need to borrow a chain guard u can have mine for your cert if u need it.
Who ru using to get ur cert?
Im using my baby to commute to work which is like cruising around in a big block chevy,
Let me know if u need anything, cheers, Neil:D

Hey Neil. Thanks for the offer! I should probably get a guard as I'll need it every 6 months. Not sure how the last owner got by without it... I was going to go to spectrum motors for the warrant. If you know of a decent place I'd be keen learn where. Still waiting on the wheels to get laced, but I'll be commuting too once she's back on the road. I imagine it's a beast around town. What gearing you running? I'm planning to give 14/45 a go! Cheers

gearing

Hey mate,
I run a 15/38 on mine seems a good combo, theoretically just over 200ks top but i reckon she will do more like 180 with wind drag etc. 6th gear is just for motorway or cruising at 90 to 120, good fun passing cars doing 120 and around 3500 rpm!!!
I think 14/45 will be a bit low for open road but good around town.
Ill be away for aweek but will try and arange a ride when im back, let me know how u get on with ur warrant etc. Cheers
