Wish me luck, this weekend I'm mounting it on the beast :D.

Hi
Good carb. but do you have the adapters for the front and rear ?

Some has already done the change of the travel limiter of APJ to that carb. Do you know how to set it ?

How about jetting ?

Woooa I didnt even know about the adapters :)). I knew about ONE adapter which is for the "airbox" but I didnt know you had to change the one which goes into the engine as well(must have misread in the owners doc). I also bought a gas throttle with dual cables. The jetting stays as it is for now, will see how it runs, but will definitely change it for the next season, during the winter at some point. How do you set the travel limiter?

Thanks, Tom

Sooo the adaptor is ready :).

I tried it on today but it has a very nasty leak from the o-rings at the gas "pipe". I dont know its name, it's that copper thingy where the fuel line goes, it has 3 o-rings on it. Will fix that tomorrow. Also I have to run with one gas cable since on of the dual lines moves very hard and the slide doesn't close correctly because of this.

Hi Tamas

You've found a nice adapter for the rear :D

For the front please don't do the same !! Some people like to cut the dellorto rubber, but I don't like that, already had bad experiences with those. My advice is to buy to aluminium adapter for the head and the newer rubber.
Anyway when your dellorto rubber starts to crack and you want to exchange it you won't find a new one, so you better do it right now.

I may sound stupid but I really don't understand why I need to cut the Delorto rubber or to change it? It seems to me that it fits perfectly as it is. At least in my case...
Today I went out for a test drive, starts easy cold, and warm as well. Starts on the button as well. Goes like a poisoned rat also:), but I get the feeling it is a bit rich on mixture. The reason why I think that is because it starts without choke when cold and I get a slight hesitation when I mad the throttle suddenly, but only on lower rpms. Other wise it seems fine by me. It really is a massive difference compared to the Delorto, mostly in how precisely you can put the power to the ground and also it doesn't vibrate as much. I was really surprised on how well it behaved without any sort of adjustment whatsoever( except the idle).

I'm interested in knowing what size carb you are using and what did it come off. What about jetting are you using what it came with or did you have to change it?

The carb is an FCR 40 mm and from what I was told, it came off of a WR450 from 2006, if I recall correctly. The jetting is probably standard, I didnt take it apart to see, I just fitted it and "wroom wroom" :)).

Interesting. I see the yam carbs for 200 yet if I search for an fcr for husaberg, they are almost 500 used!

What kind of adapter is required for the air box end ? My dellorto is giving me some crap so it may be time for a change.

Yes I also searched for Husaberg carbs and are very overpriced, but if you buy a yam carb and re-jet it and also buy the adapters you will still be well under the price of a 'Berg carb.

Apparently there is an adapter for Husaberg that can be bought from Keihin dealers. But you can find more info on this in the owners doc in the Carburation section.

Hi

If you bought (like me) a carb from other bike, some times you have to adapt things.

There are different cases, if the FCR is the production carb (most of them are, specially ktm) or the MX version.

If you have the prod. carb you have to adapt the rubber to the carb (if it's not right ??) if it's the MX version you may have to buy the aluminium intake, bought mine from Taffy.

Tamas, your's is the MX version (from what I can see it's Yamaha) and you have used the Yamaha rubber and the berg rubber, but you could have the alum. intake and the berg rubber directly to the alum intake.

Hope I made some sense, at this hour of the morning :D

This hour of the morning?? I already worked 4 and a half hours today :p. Btw, yes you made sense, but my question is, wether this belmouth thingy actually makes any difference compared to the setup I am running ATM, or is it just to make a perfect fit? Also I did nit find the mixture screw on the FCR, is such a thing even present on the carb? :)

Oh and one more thing I forgot...the current adapter has a horizontal plate in it, something like a sort of splitter?
Does that need removing or is it fine to leave it as is?

Tom

Hi Tamas

No that adapter doesn't make a difference in performance, if your works it's fine.

The mix screw is in the bottom front of the carb and you have to make a very short screw drive to tune it, or buy an extended screw to do it with the hand.

And yes, you do always need to use it to tune the carb.

That horizontal plate is an imitation of this

the "bellmouth thingy" (called the air filter adaptor - AFA) has a very large outside outside diameter for the rubber sock. 68mm I think. it doesn't make it run better.

the mixture screw is also called the pilot screw and is underneath the carb. if you can't see it get your eyes tested!

I did get my eyes checked two weeks ago and they assured me it was fine :p. I did see that screw btw, but I just assumed in my ignorance that something that important would be more visible and easier to reach :)).

Tom

It seems that I have been missled :(. The guy advertised the carb as a 40 mm. Now, after buying it(stupid of me) I have done some research and found out that Keihin only does 35,37,39 and 41 mm carbs in Flat slides. So there is no way that it is a 40 mm! Now the question remains if it is a 41 or a 39? I will measure it sometime during the week.

I feel stupid again, I have once again relied on a stranger's honesty and got phucked over :)).

Tom

they are 40mm up to the slide and then 39mm out the back to the cylinder head.

regards

Taffy
