Word is it could be some time before tank's for the 01/08 berg's resume production.

tooling problem from clarke mfg. We have two yellow's in stock though.

Thank's Rick

Will they improve the design? I have a couple leaky ones the could melt down to help. It would be great if they didn't have the thin spots at frame mounts and the petcocks fit flush with out sanding smoothing.

I would think thin spots would be a warranty issue. I have boufgt 5 tanks and never had a problem with leaking (once the petcocks got sealed  ).

Hey Rick,

I have a failed tank with the same bubble issue, talking with Clarke Mfg this week sounds like they might scrap this product alltogether??

Is there a chance that I can get one of your Tanks? I understand the cost, I just had the failed one shipped from Colorado Springs to Aust, and I am in dire need of this tank to do a charity solo ride accross Australia.

Have you QA checked the tanks you have in stock for the bubbles around the slots that accommodate the mounting rubbers?

Only other option is an Omero or manufacture my own from alloy :/

I'd be keen to hear from you if you can help.

Azza.

This is how mine looked...

Clarke and the shop I brought it through are working stuff out, but if theres a chance that I can get another one, I am really really in need - my ride is fully self funded, and is to go from Sydney to Fremantle (south of Perth) right accross the middle of the country - raising money for depression awareness, cancer research and Australian royal flying doctors service.

Anyone reading this, who can help with a tank I would be massively appreciative.

Aaron.

Wish I could help you, but I just had my new tank replaced because of a leak on the first ride - same area with thin bubbles. The second tank looked as bad, but has not leaked. I guess with an older model they are not as inclined to spend any more on molds or production techniques.

I sure hope this one doesn't leak.

is the bubble issue color dependent? i don't see any suspicious spots on my black one.

Interesting because the black one is the only one I have used over any length of time. It's still on my old 496. Had it off 2 weeks ago and it still looks good. I believe it was from the 2nd production run.

Interesting concept Ned, I was going to ask that of Clarke Mfg, in the black tank it may be practically impossible to see any bubbling, the slight opacity of the yellow tank makes it possible to see the bubbles, but only just... they did show up well under the camera flash.

there were no quality issues raised in the first few years of production, they were used in Australasian safaris, and Rallye dos sertoes, and probably some other events..

Really hope they manage to sort the tooling glitch out !

Both my tanks, the defective one and current one, are natural (translucent). It is real easy to see the bubbles.[attachment=0:3rx95rts]Clark Tank Defects 002 smaller.jpg[/attachment:3rx95rts]

can't a plastic welder guy fix those bubble holes ????

since we are talking about this tank how many liters do your tanks hold.
mine seems to hold around almost 19 liters.
which i think is a bargain considering it should only hold around 15 liters.

regards

hey Force,
now that clarke have indicated that the Berg tank might be off the menu, im going to look at plastic welding....
