Hello all,

Now that I am a Berg owner and getting the 03FS chassis ready to ride, I am wanting to install a GPR stabilizer onto my bike. I have found however that the triples will not accept the GPR I bought (V2) and had on the 06SMR with the billet triples. Sold the bike and now want the stabilizer on the Berg. I have purchases a set of 2003 KTM 250SX triples in the 14mm design for install on the Berg chassis, so my question is....??

Has anyone here swapped the Berg triples for the KTM units? Do both bikes use the same bearing? What types of issues will I encounter with this type of swap? This is a pic of the triples and GPR I want to install....Thanks for any help on this issue..!! :cheers:

from the fact that no one has answered i guess its a bust.

as you've already got them have you fitted them yet?

what were the results?
 
Will be doing some fitting for the front end tonight.....I guess I am the first to be posting up about such things in a swap. :mrgreen:
 
the answers do me little justice.

I have put those very same 14s on mine and by raising the forks as well I found the bike a lot better.

try searching the doc and I may have left a link there to the thread it came from.

What I need is info on what bearings are used to mount a set of 03 SX 14mm triples in the 03FS400e head tube. The ID of the Berg bearings is too small to fit the KTM stem and the KTM bearing just does not fit the inner race quite right. the link you posted does not tell me what I need to know. Thanks

Anyone else ever done this????

FYI

For those of you interested in doing this conversion, I find that a standard Timken BR8 set or BR8 from SKF is a standard wheel bearing set for many European cars. It used the early Berg race for the steering head and the KTM bearing shaft I.D. IT IS A PERFECT FIT. I am out to the garage to mount the new races and install the triples. Might have to do it a couple of times to get the mounting bracket for the stud in the right local bit so far so good!! Pics when I am done.
 
Well I got them on months ago and then took them off on the account that I have found a billet set of triples from a SMR and would rather have the adjustability and the nice polished look. Doin some searching for a FS 450 motor as well. I am interested in running in a 450 class next year and am looking for a motor... anyone have an extra?
