Hi,

trying to find a cheaper than original conrod kit for my -08 FE450. Seems to only be original or mx composites around. I saw Taffmeister on ebay with the 1mm shorter conrod, but that does not feel right somehow.

Here in sweden the original conrod kit is about 360EUR and mx composites kit is about 1200EUR including taxes and stuff.

Then i just have to figure out the dimensions of the original rod then ;)

Carrillo may have already made one for someone and may know the info - may have to ask for the KTM eqivalent part as it would be much more likely they would have made one of those IMO.

Are the Carillo rods forged? How about weight vs OEM? Much stronger also than OEM? Car and inline bike Carillos are the best money can buy. Was just wondering how they do in single bikes.

I want to put 13.5:1 piston in my 570 but I'm scared to break my stock rod.

After some digging, I found that the Pro-X con rod number 03-6423 should fit. Although it is 1mm shorter than the Husberg one.

According to google this is the same conrod as in KTM 450 SX-F 2008-2010. These are pretty cheap ;)

1mm shorter so use the taller elko piston ?

Or use a (cheaper) wossner KTM 525 piston which is also taller.
I have not tried this, but is suppose it will work!

Thats right :)

This ebay store is the cheapest i could find in wossner pistons, a wossner piston for my SX-F 250 was only 105GBP!
Just email him for the 8583DA piston and ask a price (he does not have all pistons in the shop)

edit:
look here this is the piston you need (variating A-B or C size):
110GBP
Much better than the ELKO which is 200+euro as far as i know

Hi,
does anyone know why there are different piston rings for husaberg 450 and ktm 525
i checked in the wössner catalog and husaberg 450 have 1000XSY and ktm 525 (8583DA) have 1000ADS-2. (same diameter)

interesting,

also watch the weight, some of them are over 300gm

I have a 525 99,95mm piston at home, will try to fix a miligram scale and way it.
Will post pics.

ive found a rod kit thats identical to the 450 FE, im just about to fit it to and engine i have in my workshop. you need to modify the crank pin slightly, i will be selling them as soon as i fit up the first one. Stroke is the same so you can use a standard piston and the price will be a fraction of the genuine which is $1100 in Australia. With machining costs i should be selling them under $400.

my price file said 1100, and the customer rang around Sydney and the best he could do was $1050, thats why i went looking for another option as $450 plus postage genuine in the US was the next option.
Sad but true and theres still no explanation why parts are so dear is OZ ??????,

partly I reckon because we are becoming a nation of greedy ******s

its worse over here in WA and ktm HQ is in perth. tradies and business owners see how much a TA can make per hour in a mine and get all jealous so they put their prices up till they are better off than not only the TA but mine tradies as well. all it does long term is drive up inflation and shoot us all in the cocks,

dunno if that's the real reason but its gonna be part of it.
