floppy kick starter

The kick start lever on my Hussy 470 will not stay tucked in. It does return when kicked, so the issue is in the lever's knuckle area....usually this is a probelm in a spring ball system but the part fiche for Husaberg and KTM does not shown these small parts and repair by replacement is costly. Is there a cheapy way around this one?

It was a small piece of plastic on my 2002 470. Do you have empty hole at the base of the lever?

yes there is a plastic buffer in the case and then adjust the lever in the splines to tuck in and rest on the buffer. you can load the kickstart spring as long as you don't hear a gentle ratchet 'clicking' noise.

Dont know if this will come out but 2 pics of DIY bung in mygallery - arkley123. Works a treat.

Yup...looks like the small plastic piece came free....empty hole, now pretty beat up...maybe a nylon bolt? put in an o ring in the knuckle and that works fairly well. Thanks folks

There is a plastic piece that protects the case from the Kick starter as it returns. If the Kicker is set at 11-12, this might hold things in place. Turns out that there is also an o ring in Kick starter assembly that keeps things tucked in. Doesn't appear in all part fiche's.
