Bypass power relay for testing electrical on fe 570 -09

Hej!
So, the last week i've been fitting all the stuff needed to make my fe 570 -09 street legal.
Now I'm at the point where I want to try out the lights. Does anyone know a way to bypass that pesky relay (or what ever is in the way) so I can test the lights without running the engine?

Cheers from Husaland

Reading from the wiring diagram for the EU spec bike:
The yellow/red wire from the power relay supplies power to fuses 1,3 and 4 when the relay is operated by output from the alternator. Fuse 3 is the main lighting fuse with 4 being the turn signals, brake lights, horn and speedo. Easiest way to power the lights would be to pull the lighting fuse and, using a length of wire (with an inline fuse just to be safe), supply +12v straight from the battery to the load side of the fuse holder.

Sweet, Thank's! I'll give that a shot if my first go with the tank fails. I almost got the tank back on (ended up with the wires from the back on the wrong side of the battery holder tonight and I'm to worn to fix it tonight. Ill give it a shot with the engine just in case Murphys law is on vacattion...I just hate how little room there are for wires. And... how short the darn fusebox cables are... Husa designers: Can we please have a fem more centimeters of wire to the fusebox and some deeper cable channels when you boys are at it. Hmm come to think of it. I might ride over there and tell them face to face

If you bridge a wire between pins 5 and 6 in the XC1 connector the Berg will stay powered up

Even sweeter! Thank's Davo. I'll try that out tonight. Btw, the XC1 Connection... that is the big chunk next to the fusebox right? (My repair manual is still on order so I'm flying with really dark sunglases right now...)

Cheers

The XC1 connector is in the picture below, just to the right of the Fuse Box. It is the white loose connector not plugged into anything. There is a cover on it to keep the dust out. It has 6 wires going to it. It is what the dealers plug their diagnostic tool into to check things and re-flash the EFI computer.

The chunky thing below the Fuse Box in the picture is the Starter Relay.

Pew, u saved me from taking that lump apart in vain. So in a few hours I¨ll know if I managed to get the stuff on right. Big thanks Davo!

Lights up!

shorting pin 5 and 6 worked nicely. To my suprise the whole shabang actually worked from scratch. Lights of all sorts worked like they should. Well.. with one exception that the break light only worked on the rear break. In fact, while taking a quick look there seem to be no electrical cables coming out from the handle at all. All my road bikes has a connector out from the handle but here... none. I got the repair manual on CD today so I´ll figure that one out tonight.
Thanks guys for all the help!

Hey guys,
After hitting the button this morning on my MY11 570 nothing happened.. so after some google searching I found this thread and shorted out terminal 5 & 6 and hey presto my baby fired straight up :) THANKS LADS! Would you please be so kind to offer your advice on wheather you think a new 'Starter Relay' is what i need to fix it? Also can you see a problem with me bridging it to ride it whilst i wait for the part? Many thanks!!

I just hit the button & now it's starting fine?! Any thoughts? An intermittant fault in the relay?? Weird

Wato...
I have had same problem with my 11 570. Use as snow bike. On hill when happened and bump started to get home. Retried starting on hill on way down and nothing. Sat over night and fired right up. One year later happened again. Tried on hill and nothing. Got to bottom and tried again. After a couple tries it fired up.

What did you find? Relay? Switch? Starter?

Anyone else experience this?
