speedometer

I have a brand new '09 FE 570. I have noticed that the computer resets itself multiple times in a single ride. The trip meters and clock loose all data, but the odometer and hour meter still work normal. Any ideas what would cause this on a brand new bike?

I have an 03 FE400E and wanted to know it getting the button to make the speedo work is worth the cost. Currently it only shows the speed and hours I have ridden. What other functions are there that this button will allow me to use. Thanks
