    Taking a SEM second look...

FYI, I visited KRW sport cycles in Phillipsburg, Ohio today, a former Husaberg dealer, current KTM dealer. I talked to the owner Kirk about many things and found out he used to be a professional "wrench" for a Husaberg racing team. He had come up with a lot of tricks during that time to deal...

What's the latest scoop on the 'alternative means' of not having to replace my SEM on my bike every other year guys? I've seen throughout this section of guys who rewind and rebuy the Stator/Flywheel bargain parts :( and I havn't yet been able to find an answer other than buying the same...

    SEM startor cracking

Hi, I have been riding around 40 hours with the new SEM stator which re-placed the last year failed stator. This seems to crack-up from inside. It works but the cover falls apart. Have anyone seen this behavior before?

Husaberg SEM stator & coil compatibility w/ '88 Husky TE

Does anyone know if Husaberg SEM ignition/coil/stator can be installed on a 1988 Husqvarna TE 510 4-stroke liquid cooled enduro? Replacement parts through Husqvarna/Cagiva have been discontinued. Husaberg's US distributer tells me that Husaberg SEM parts are still avilable, but was not sure...

    SEM ignitions

Having never owned a 99 I am not sure about this and hope someone can help. If memory serves me correct 99 was the first year for the stator mounted in the cover. 2000 was the first year for all the Hi-Lo gizmos and talk about load sensing. Would a 99 ignition be a simpler and possibly more...

Timing the SEM Unit '95 FE501

I recently took in an orphan FE-501. The ignition was cooked, so I ordered a new SEM unit complete with flywheel. After piecing together what info is there for pre-99 stuff, all I know is the timing is to be set at 35BTC, but in typical European fashion, how to do this is not described. I...

    SEM strikes again!!!

Hi all Friend of mine suddenly lost spark on his 1997 KTM620SC. Ignition is SEM and looks the same as mine(2003 FE501E). After removing ignition cover, his stator had corroded and split. So, it seemed that the stator was the source of trouble, and so bought new stator. Problem is...

Thoughts on making the SEM stator an oil bath.

Anyone considered making the SEM stator oil bath? Did KTM's have the same issues with their SEM ignitions that were oil bathed as the Berg's are having? I'm just pondering the idea of converting the Berg over to an oil bath design. Anyone care to share their ideas/experiences? :)

    SEM problem in Sweden

I asked "Konsumentverket" in Sweden and they told me that a part like this should last two years. I told them it is a spare part and when I told her the price, 556 USD, she immediately said "two years, you have the possibility to "reklamera" in two years". This is regulated by law.

    SEM Stators

two of my riding buddies have had stator failures on new, low mileage 2003 model Fe501e's the replacement stator is almost $500 (canadian dollars). Can anyone suggest a lower cost solution? Rewinding? (a company like Ricky Stator?) or a different supplier? Thanks!
