Hi all,
I bought a 2nd hand FE400 and found that the intake valves are tuliped..
From what I derived reading though posts, I need to buy a pair of intake valves from KTM.
Would anyone know which size/part number I should get for the FE 400 head?
I will also need a pair of valve seats...
Hi,
I wasn't satisfied with the way a Keihin carburetor fits to the standard intake manifold and decided to go for an aluminum intake manifold with an original KTM intake boot. The manifold's groove is copied from a KTM cylinder head. This way the Keihin fits perfectly. I'm using the intake...
Taffy, This one is for you. We discussed the machining down of a 38mm valve to a usable valve for the inlet valve. Could you explain which valve you would use and give the dimensions and angles? Which KTM valve would you use? I have a friend that is a machinist and could help. It sure beats...
Hi All,
Hey I just noticed that my 09 570 does not have an intake trumpet like the one that is shown in the manual in the air box.
Can anyone comment on this?
Thanks,
Dale
I adjusted my valves last night. It was mainly a check as they were not far off. Yes 1/6 is near a perfect .12. Gage goes in there nice. I set the exhaust at 1/5 or close to it. I marked 1/6 and 1/4 to get a visual on 1/5. Then set 1/5 right in the middle.

During a ride my FE450E started stalling and became hard to start. Once cooled own started fine until warm and then stalled again. After pulling the air filter, I noticed steam in the intake coming up from the engine vent. Checked radiator, very low.
Is this a bad head gasket or some...
The intake boot # 590.36.044.000 (rubber mount between carb and head) on the 650 has some serious mismatch with the carb bore and the inlet port. Has anyone come upon a solution? Could one off the 450/501/550 #800.36.044.000 be altered for a better fit?
Cheers spanner.
I saw a few pics of a berg with a direct intake instead of the chassis one under the seat.
There was a conic filter next to the keihin..
Can someone please send me (or link) those pics?
thanks a lot!
Have purchased a new 06 450e. 10 months old 50 hrs on it and replaced intake boot twice. Only problem so far. :D But it seem's to split in the same place every time, right next to the clamp. So with the second one i replaced i made sure the clamp wasn't too tight. SPLIT again. Is it a problem...
I ordered a new intake valve to replace the slightly bent one for my 2002 FE400. The part number I tried to order was 200 224 01 which I got out of the parts manual. I was sent an updated part number 590 36 030 000. Both are 35mm valves and are identical except for the stem length. The newer...
I have been thinking about making some air intake covers to put in place of your filter while washing your Berg. How many people from the UHE would be interested? I have not drawn them out yet or figured cost, I just want to get an idea if the market is there.
Thor's Hammer swings in my direction again. An intake valve spring broke at 347.4 hours. Fortunately the engine was only at about 3500 rpm and it quit quickly. The damage was limited to 1 bent valve, broken spring (3 pieces) damaged spring retainer, and valve keeper, and a bent 2003 rocker arm...
