Has anyone got any idea why only the 550 has re-inforcing around the crank in the new case design, but not the other bikes in the range???

I'm about half way through my engine rebuild. I'm getting close to pressing new bearings into the cases. Is it a good idea to warm up the cases in the oven prior to pressing in the bearings? What temperature? How long? Is it a good idea to put the bearings in the freezer? Thanks Guys
