Ok...
I got a 550 FC -03.. When I bougth the bike, the seller told me it was a hard starter. But I think i'm getting in the rigth direction..

The main problem is when motor is stopped at low rpm. It seems like it is getting flooded. And it will very hard to start.
But If I turn of the fuel tap's off and increases the rpm and kill it, it will start after 2-3 kicks.

The carb jetting is: (as from factory I think)

Needle: K51 third clip down
Needle jet: DR272
Throttle: 40
Start jet: 45
Pilot jet: 33
main jet: 190
float valve: 300

mixture screw : 1 3/4 turns
idle screw : 5 turns

The Needle and Needle jet is new, and the carb is cleaned.

What to do next?

Hi,

it´s not easy to give an advice without seeing and feeling your Berg.
But I wouldn´t use the DR272. In my opinion it is a bit too big.
In most cases a DR270 is really enough. A friend of mine even uses a DR268,
he didn´t have good results with the power response as he put in the DR272,
so he reinstalled the DR 268.

Maybe you can use a #35 pilot jet. You have to test it.
It´s not easy to give a standard setup. Every Dello differs from another one...

Ok.. but isn't pj 35 giving more fuel than 33 ( makeing it more flooded on low rpm)...
All this carb settings are getting me confused.......

check out the owners doc and get a feel for the best jetting through that.

Ok... I'll checked it..
Taffy wrote in "owners..."

"200MJ, DR266, K35 needle on C1, 40PJ, 3.25mm slide cutaway, 45 choke jet, PS = 1-turn. Sea level(Taffy)"

What does it mean with 3.25mm slide cutaway?
I'm new into this..

obmar

if you pull the slide out and place it on the edge of the kitchen table; the mouth will be a certain height above the table. written underneath the slide is that height. 40 = 4mm and 50 = 5mm.

40/3 well the 3 is the ramp design for the accelerator pump. your carb may not have that so let's just stick to the '40' etc.

you can have .75mm removed from the base of the slide by a local engineer. you'll need to turn the idle screw out slightly after this.

having now seen joeusa and heimar's jetting i would have persevered with a DR272 atomiser so although i was happy with the jetting i feel joe's may be closer.

regards

Taffy
