well my little tool has just saved me (as an honest type of man) a fortune! i got a crank back from the reconditioners having had a new pin and bearing fitted and i thought:
'i'll remove the screw from the end of the crank and blow it out'!
so i removed the screw from the end of the crank and it was one of those that had been drilled out to 2mm or whatever. sheeessshhhh! so i blew with my mouth into the big end and it was blocked. so nothing else for it but to get thunderbird 6 out;
the sucker!!!!
so i set it up and put the blow jet on the end of the pipe. it was fairly quite for about 1 whole second and then:
boom!!!!
like i'd broken the sound barrier as a POS obviously became detached and clear engine cleaner flew into the can.
conclusion 1
if it never does another job - it was worth it! this tool works. how else would YOU have got this done hey!!!
conclusion 2
never drill out the end screw otherwise the muck just wedges IN THE CRANK PROPER!
conclusion 3
the screw and the tiny hole were left like that for a reason!
THE ENGINE RECONDITIONERS NEVER CLEAN OUT A CRANK. I HAD 3 GO IN 1984: #2 PROBABLY AND #3 DEFINATELY DUE TO MUCK IN THE BIG END. they have this policy even on the roller cranks even though the customer CANNOT clean out the cronk gallery's. crazy!
