I wasn't completely correct in my answer although I think you got the message.
The engine has two oil pumps, one to lubricate all parts: big end, small end & cilinder, camchain, valve drive, gearbox and what not.
the other oilpump is in fact a suction pump. It draws the oil from the valve cover area away in the descibed situation: a (prolonged) descent.
So if you would do a lot of long, single trail descents there might be a massive oil build-up under the rocker-cover. But I have no idea if ALL oil could be accumulated there with the subsequent dry-running of the rest of the moving parts...
