I decided to pull the entire motor (mostly because I was bored) and put it on the work bench to sort out. Anything I should check or replace while I have the motor out of the frame? If so now is the time...
I got the kicker working and the motor back together. I can "kick" it with my hand on the workbench now! You guys are awesome, I really appreciate the help and the Doc was a big help also.
For the future, if you have not already got one, the crank locking bolt that goes in the front of the engine is pretty handy to have around when doing work on the clutch or whatever else you might be doing where having the motor locked at TDC is desirable.
