I have a 2008 husaberg 550fe. i've gone through two voltage regulators in the last 6 months. i can still start the bike using a wrench--by touching the positive and negative screws/wires at the same time. i can also kick start it and it will start flawlessly. i live directly in front of the ocean--30 feet in front of the beach--we get salt air blowing constantly and corroding everything down here--all my spokes are rusty. But the voltage regulator is encased, so i cannot see how any salt air can get into the hard plastic casing. Anyone have any idea what could be causing the failure of so many voltage regulators?

Thanks, frank

There was nothing wrong with my starter relay; instead the problem was with a wire near the steering column that went from the starter button to the starter itself...it had came loose. problem solved!
