A competitor is using a KTM-cam, stamped "112". This one was said to be used in a 613cc motor. With 0-play at 1mm lift it measured:
IVO: 24 BTDC
IVC: 61 ABDC
EVO: 55 BBDC
EVC: 22 ATDC

This looks like the lobes from the #62-cam I´m using in my #1 engine. I can confirm that it is working OK.

DrC

so there is a husaberg cam coded #62 which is the same as a katoom cam which is coded as #112?

i've measured the cam timing of the husaberg and it's part of the bikes unique pull that it is what it is. the inlet opens 30d after a YZ for instance...

Thought some of the contributors to this thread might be interested in a picture of an MMC rod next to a conventional OEM Husaberg Steel Roller Bearing rod.

I have tried to add the picture to this post but I can't remember how so I put it in my gallery.

hi ben

good to have you around again. i'm sure you could add so much to a couple of threads we have been running this past 10 days or so. we have one that is currecnt called crankcase heights? please have a look at that and see what you can add for us!

there is one that has dropped off to the mechanical section in the last couple of days called main bearing or big end size? (or summink - i only work here!).

is that MMC rod an alloy rod? it's not the same as MXcomposites of sweden?

we're trying to get all the case heights, rod lengths, valve sizes and even piston heights!

regards

Taffy

I suppose Dr C refer to this engine 610 crate engine, Nice engine just cost approx 4300 euro. http://slorider.com/KTM/literature/rennmotor.pdf
I think that dis is the cam and valves, spring, the hsb SM factory race team use.
Would like to know the sparepart number is for those thing. I think that Ktm have reasonable price for them, and its raceproven parts that works.
So if anyone is sitting on the partnumber for those things. please let me know.
I have searched the internet but cant find it. Those (crate) parts don't seams to exist in he ordinary Ktm part-system?

Best Regards Patrik

Sorry no part no, but we have one in stock at the moment, also valvesprings to work with it, due to the higher lift, the OEM spring will not compress enough.
Yes its race prof.
Last years the race team used the Crate motor and it have a short life time.
We have run the same camshaft and springs for over a year without any problem.

That photo is an MX Composites rod from 18 months ago. It is a Metal Matrix Composite techniclay reffered to as SCRA (Silicon Carbide Reinforced Aluminium). It is basicly made by mixing Aluminium and Silicon Carbide "dust" and sintering / compacting under high heat.

Everybody tends to think of carbon-fibre when they think composites. That is not what MX Composites do though I have seen a carbon-fibre rod once.

I have put a cross-section of the SCRA material in my galley.

Also below is a link.
