timing & overheating

jumperdog,

PM me your address and I will send you 3 thermo strips from McMaster-Carr that cover the range from 86F through 248F (free). Just make sure you degrease the place you want them to stick onto. They have peel off backing.

Regards,

Joe

Hi Joe:

Would you happen to have the part number handy?

I went to the McMaster site but cannot locate the strips.

Thanks,

Eric

Hi jumperdog,

Far it be from me to correct Dale, but he is out of town for 10 days and I am sure he meant 180 F, IMHO, especially since we are trying to diagnose a coolant loss problem in your Berg. I usually see 175-185 F at the radiator inlet (measured at the top of the radiator tank) on my 501 and 550 Bergs in the California Desert at this time of the year. I purchased the thermal strips to monitor that and also to determine the oil temperature and ignition stator temperature (on the 501) during riding under various conditions.

Let me know if you want the strips!

Regards,

Joe

Another reason why I joined this site....you guys rock, I lost 14 oz's of water/water wetter before the start of a race, I was idling her for 12 minutes.....(afraid to shut her down in the hot weather ,hard to start up again, start was delayed) its nice for the confirmation....never got the engine fired after that though...... :?: DUH  I know better for next time :D
